“a panel tasting means the panel lose out on festival time” That is true
We could have an MS form for attendees to vote
It would automate the collation of votes too

The RDS is well attended by Irish breweries
It is only a snapshot in time but that is how it has been run in the past
I didn’t see any area at the RDS that could be used to hold a beer tasting
Privacy, storage, easy access to drinking water, glass washing etc.
The big question is what would we gain from it? Would it generate enough PR for the effort?

Sorry for the late reply John
What I mean by strange brews crew is the judging panel for the strange brews festival
I am thinking of a distributed system where a panel of judges is set up to taste beers
2 or 3 people per style who taste the beer and make notes the notes can then be collated and scored
Best in each category or possibly beers that achieve more than a certain score go through to a final live judging

The problem with the beer of the year awards was the countrywide distribution
Dublin gets almost all the beers brewed in the year
In the sticks we are at the mercy of less tap space and managers who don’t have an interest in craft but are led by their supplier
Could we set up a suitable judging panel something like the strange brews crew?
Breweries would submit a beer for an award to be distributed to the judging panel,.who would keep independent notes
The panel could meet at the end of the year to compare notes/scores and award beer of the year based on that
This could be a meeting open to all members to ensure transparency and a good day out

Orange weather warning for Waterford due to finish at 10am tomorrow.
They don’t use the track next to the cliff face anymore so flooding not as frequent

Food sorted for the AGM in the shape of pizza from Antichi Sapori food truck
Hoping to have it delivered at 2pm after the meeting concludes
We will visit a few pubs with a modestly decent beer offering afterwards
Don’t forget to put your name on the list for planning purposes if you intend to attend

Unless Derek is planning to share a chair and his beer, that’s 5.

She’s already knicked my Hopfully t-shirt that’s enough sharing
