About Beoir
Beoir is an independent group of consumers with a primary goal of supporting and raising awareness of Ireland’s native independent microbreweries as well as campaigning on drinkers’ rights issues such as licensing and labelling. Beoir was founded in 2010 and as of 2024 has around 250 members. Membership costs €10 per year.
Since 2012 Beoir has been a full member of the European Beer Consumers Union (EBCU).

Barry Masterson (Barry M) – Site admin
Co-founder of Irish Craft Brewer, March 2007, co-founder Beoir, July 2010. Site admin and general dogsbody.
Barry set up IrishCraftBrewer.com (ICB) with Séan Billings in March 2007 to provide for an online community of home brewers and beer lovers in Ireland. Over a couple of years, ICB grew, and after being approached by the EBCU, it became clear that a more formal organisation was needed to represent the conscientious beer drinkers of Ireland. Despite having emigrated to Germany in 2008, Barry, Séan and John Duffy (who had joined the ICB team by then) proposed the formation of Beoir to the ICB membership, and the rest is history.
Barry is still active as part of the team maintaining and managing the Beoir site, despite being years into a farmhouse renovation, and starting a cidery. He is desperately waiting for more Irish beer to be exported to Germany.
