Guinness Dublin Porter and West Indies porter 9 years 7 months ago #1

Two new Guinness variants, just hitting the shelves in the UK and presumably coming here too. "With origins in" the Guinness brewing records, but not claiming to be actual recreations.

I bet there was now way there where going to go for the hopping rate the west India porter would have had.

3.8% for the Porter, I would say that would put it at the later end of the 20th century.

I'd regret spending money on these that could go into an Irish owned brewer's pocket... but I'm curious how they taste... BeerNut?

Ron Pattinson should be all over this like white on rice.

First thing that gets my attention is the idea of a West Indian [i:2sdxq0ch]porter[/i:2sdxq0ch] - afaik, the strong beers headed there were exactly the source of the term "stout".

Interesting, though, the difference in strength between the two - looks like they're not taking the risk (as happened with previous stout brand extensions) that nobody can really tell it from Guinness.
