Heys guys first time on this and hopefully some of ye guys and gals will be able to help me on this idea I have been thinking about for a long, long time.
We run a successful Gastropub and Craft Beer House and recently the units which we own beside the pub have run their lease so the units are available to potentially look into putting a microbrewery into them. I have limited experience in the brewing aspect of craft beer but work closely with our craft beer suppliers and have recently been to Dingle Brewing Company where I was shown the processes and effort which goes into brewing a top beer. I was told maybe a fully automated system migbt be the best option as essentially a monkey would be able to do it but cant find info on prices etc.
In my head, I would be looking at a 5hl unit to supply our pub and start of slowly by brewing one beer and supply it to our other pubs and maybe target pubs in the general vicinity (other close town, not my direct competitors). I think with the availability of the units beside us thid is the next step for the pub to attract new customers into our pub to give them a better reason to come to us and thus potentially making us a destination pub.
Just researching this idea at the moment and looking for any help on this matter is greatly appreciated,
I completely disagree with the automated system route. An automated system won't be able to handle stuck mashes, stuck fermentations, design and tweak recipes, trouble shoot off flavours. It won't be able to talk to your customers and tell them about the passion that went into making your beer. Much better buying a non automated kit and hiring a talented brewer, imo.
Have to agree those automate system are just uneconomical
