I really believe (and I'm sure the brewers would agree with me)that brewers need genuine feedback on their beers[/quote:bbic2534]I couldn't agree more. But you seem to be suggesting that the feedback would be better posted to this forum rather than sent to the brewers.

Sending negative feedback to the brewers could well help improve their beer. Posting it to a public forum doesn't really do much except increase the amount of negativity posted to web forums. I say this as someone who regularly posts negative reviews of beers to the Internet on my blog, but I'm not suggesting that my doing so is somehow good for the brewers or the drinkers.

It is normal to feel uncomfortable about publishing something negative. I think that's the only proper inference to be drawn from any perceived silence here.

When you like a beer, tell us; tell the world. When you don't, tell the brewer[/b:bbic2534].[/quote:bbic2534]

Every Irish micro lurks on here though. Half of them post.

If I spend good money on a shite beer, I'm warning my fellow beer lovers. Maybe set up a new sub-forum for moaning? <!-- s:P --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_razz.gif" alt=":P" title="Razz" /><!-- s:P -->

but I've found it a really useful way of accurately documenting my notes on beers in a public forum.[/quote:2wqbpik0]

I think it's great as well - I started doing it a few months ago just so I can document what I think about a beer when I've only had it once. It's especially handy on a day like the Fran Well's Cask Ale festival a couple of weeks ago when I tried something like 10 beers over the course of the day - without taking down what I thought of them I probably would've forgotten what half of them were like!

I'm Creedence on RateBeer as well, for anyone on there.

I had this beer again last night.
It's not, IMO, a bad beer as such - just so not what I was hoping for and expecting. Really very much in the style of an English bitter rather than an American style IPA or even an Irish Pale Ale.
I wish no ills on Trouble brewing and really hope they get this beer sorted, if indeed they aren't happy with it.

I do find it a little strange that this forum can comfortably criticise beers but not if they're Irish micros. It sort of questions the credibility, in my mind, of any positive reviews of Irish micro brewed beers posted here.

Is that really the case?

I see no problem with criticising beers from Irish micros. People have done so in the past, have done so in this thread and I hope will continue to do so.

TheBeerNut has suggested that you might consider telling the brewery (Irish or foreign) directly, which would be a constructive thing to do, but that doesn't mean you can't give your opinion about a beer, any beer, on this forum.

No one is trying to stop anyone posting their thoughts on a beer, regardless of what that might be.

The only reason I have not given my opinion is that I have yet to taste this beer (life gets in the way again).

That's not how I read it. The Beer Nut's post clearly suggests that if people are less than 100% satisfied with a beer from an Irish micro they shouldn't post about it on this forum.

I'm with The Beer Revolution here. I think the whole point of a discussion forum should be to share people's honest opinions, both good and bad.

For what it's worth, I haven't had a chance to try Sabotage but I'm a fan of Trouble's other beers.
