I don't think a few minutes on the radio will stick in the consciousness of most of the buying public. It will for anybody motivated to go on this site.

Surely this is an inevitable result of the success of Irish microbreweries; one of them was always going to go and I'm sure more will follow. New independent breweries will take their place at the bottom of the ladder.

In the meantime, if this means that FW beers will soon be available in pubs across the country, as opposed to the select few, then I'll be happy, and hopefully it will convert more people to better beer.

The sticking point is transparency.

Blue Moon notoriously doesn't say "Coors" on the label in the US, and this beer sells twice what Sierra Nevada Pale Ale sells.

I promise you that a portion of those consumers believe they're drinking a beer from a small, independent brewery. That's a problem for me, as it should be for any consumer advocacy group.

Blue Moon should say they have corporate ownership on the label, as should Sharp's and Worthington's and Kona and Widmer and Red Hook and, now, Franciscan Well.

That's a BIG legal ask. You end up deep in the bowels of company law quite quickly. The best we can do is work virally and point out untruths and misleading information when we see it.

If I were campaigning on labels it would be for a list of ingredients.

True, but only because, in the case of Blue Moon, Coors set up the Blue Moon Brewing Company as a separate entity.

That's misleading, and given some of the trends in the US, purposefully so.

Something that craft brewers are glad to do (credit to Rogue for kicking off the practice of listing hop varieties, OG, etc.) and corporate breweries do more reluctantly (Stella Artois has maize, but good luck finding that in writing anywhere).

Another point of distinction that I'm afraid will get lost in the shuffle of corporate-owned craft.
