I dunno! I'm not saying the local market will mature to the same extent. But with what Steve says, maybe more competition will require those putting out poor beer to up their game.

There is also technically flawless piss-poor beer, which is what I took your original question/poll to be about.

Can I suggest that we put a piece in the next Beoir magazine and news letter about what to look for in well / badly made beer, i.e. butter taste, skunking etc.

We could put a link to the article out on social media.

@Stephanos what Irish Craft Breweries would you rate highly?

Ill also open this up to others as well. Also what breweries would you say need work?

I am just curious as I am new into the Irish Craft Beer scene and have so far not been impressed.

Fair question, feel free to check my ratings under beersiveknown on Ratebeer...in recent months even breweries if normally bank on have produced some dubious stuff!

For me the Brewers with good beers across a range of styles are eight degrees, white hag, yellowbelly, rising sons, & boundary with a few other breweries making a handful of good stuff including Carlow, Galway bay, o brother. Am sure some of the newer ones have impressed but they don't quickly come to mind.

Consistency and freshness of packaged beer still needs a lot of work

Most likely due to untreated water where chlorine is bonding with the phenols created by the yeast.
