Places that stock Irish Craft Beer Finding beer from Ireland's craft breweries can be a daunting task. We are not yet at the stage where one can walk into any pub in Ireland and find something brewed locally. However, the beer is available and for the discerning drinker it is simply a matter of knowing where to look. Read the Full Story
Irish Craft Breweries The number of craft breweries in Ireland has been growing over the past few years, providing greater choice and quality to beer and cider consumers on the island of Ireland. Beoir maintains a list of these breweries so you can learn where you can find them and what they make. Read the Full Story

What is Beoir?

Beoir is an independent group of consumers with a primary goal of supporting and raising awareness of Ireland's native independent microbreweries. You can read more about Beoir or learn how to join, here. There are some fantastic benefits for members.

The Beoir Directory

Beoir maintains a directory listing the micro breweries on the island of Ireland and, more importantly, the bars and restaurants where you can enjoy their produce. Find the places near you on our directory or download the BeoirFinder app.

Beoir Magazine

Beoir Magazine was envisioned as biannual publication aimed at tourists and the general public to inform them of what's happening in the Irish Craft Beer scene. The 32+ page digest sized magazine had an initial print run of 7000 printed copies and officially launches at the Irish Craft Beer & Cider Festival at the RDS in September. It has since exceeded 10,000 copies.

The magazine will be distributed to pubs, Off-Licences, Beer Festivals and tourist offices around the country and while not a technically a members magazine, any member who can't find a copy locally can request one to be posted to them. Digital versions are also available to everyone (see below).

Concerning Advertising

While Beoir magazine does contain some ads, they are carefully chosen to be beneficial to the target audience so are all Irish Craft Beer or cider related. Anyone wishing to take an advertising spot or help sponsor the magazine can contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. for very reasonable rates but they must relate to Irish Craft Beer or cider.

Meet The Team

Here's a list of the Beoir team starting with the elected officials and then moving on to other positions such as the Beoir regional representatives.

Elected Officers and Admin Team

John Duffy (TheBeerNut) - Chair - Site Admin

John Duffy

Joined Irish Craft Brewer in 2007, founding member of Beoir in 2010. Chair from 2018

John lives in Dublin and has been a drinker of Irish craft beer since the mid-1990s. He joined Irish Craft Brewer shortly after it was founded and helped steer its transformation into Beoir. He served as Beoir's treasurer from 2010 until 2016 and attended meetings of the European Beer Consumers Union on its behalf.

John has been writing a blog about beer called The Beer Nut since 2005 and has contributed to books such as the CAMRA Good Beer Guide, Irish Craft Beers: Origins, Styles & Breweries and 1001 Beers You Must Try Before You Die.

Andrew Moore
Andrew Moore (Andrew) - Site Admin & App Developer

Joined Irish Craft Brewer in early 2010, founding member of Beoir in 2010.

Andrew is a well adjusted male in his forties with a weird sense of humour and a sincere love of comedy in any form. He brews beer occasionally and is an amateur chocolatier. Andrew came up with the idea of developing an app to integrate with the Beoir directory that uses the built in GPS capabilities of a smartphone to show people what is available in their location. Andrew is a fundamental part of the Beoir team as an admin and app developer.

Barry Masterson (Barry M) - Site admin

Co-founder of Irish Craft Brewer, March 2007, co-founder Beoir, July 2010. Site admin and general dogsbody.

Barry set up IrishCraftBrewer.com (ICB) with Séan Billings in March 2007 to provide for an online community of home brewers and beer lovers in Ireland. Over a couple of years, ICB grew, and after being approached by the EBCU, it became clear that a more formal organisation was needed to represent the conscientious beer drinkers of Ireland. Despite having emigrated to Germany in 2008, Barry, Séan and John Duffy (who had joined the ICB team by then) proposed the formation of Beoir to the ICB membership, and the rest is history.

Barry is still active as part of the team maintaining and managing the Beoir site, despite being two years into a farmhouse renovation, and is a semi-active beer blogger since summer 2008. He is desperately waiting for more Irish beer to be exported to Germany.
