Limerick!

Post by DrJohn » Thu May 09, 2019 12:18 pm

I was wondering what interest there might be for a Beoir event in Limerick. I was thinking of possibly Saturday August 3rd. This coincides with a Yellowbelly Tap Takeover event in MotherMacs (Aug 2-5), I would also propose visiting The Wickham Tap (GBB) and possibly others. It would be a daytime event (for me anyway!) and give a chance for Limerick Beoir members to meet (Beoir would sponser a pint or two!) although open to all Beoir members. I am aware that it is a holiday weekend.

I wasn't planning any group travel - every man (or woman) for himself/herself! For me it will be Dublin Coach M7 service:
https://www.dublincoach.ie/timetables-f ... routes.php which I will be taking from the Red Cow Luas but originates in Dublin city centre. There's one every 30 minutes - I hope to get the 10.35 to get to Limerick by 13.00 for lunch and a pint! The last return bus departs Limerick Arthur's Quay 20.45 Dublin bound €25 return. I don't intend staying over. For Limerick folk, travel will be easier!
There's also Irish Rail.

I haven't planned much about the Limerick pub/brewery route as yet - maybe in a week or so but open to any and all suggestions.

Thanks! I'm looking at the 10am train from Heuston, arriving 12.04pm (or maybe the one an hour later), and the 8.55pm back, arriving just before 11pm.

Unfortunately I will be abroad, otherwise, I would be up for it
Trains to Limerick on Saturdays are very reasonably priced
If you plan to recreate the trip on another Saturday let me know
Since when has popularity been a measure of quality?

I'll be away but don't forget that Treaty City who looked after us at the Limerick AGM have moved right into the city centre near King John's castle.

Don't think they've moved as such. It looks to be a visitor experience and pilot kit. Will definitely check it out.

Train booked. I went with the 11am in the end, so will be in Limerick just after 1.

Hello to anyone intending to join us on Saturday!

Provisional schedule is as follows:

13.15 The Glen Tavern, Lr. Glenworth Street for a pint and food (Beoir will cover this!) - they serve a couple of White Gypsy brews on tap.

14.45 The Wickham Tap, Wickham Street for a beer or two.

16.00 Mother Mac's, High Street for Yellowbelly Tap Takeover

We will have a group decision on taking a walk to Treaty City Brewing, Nicholas Street but nothing booked yet. If we take a brewery tour, Beoir will cover the cost for members. I have not booked this as not sure of what numbers we will have!

Another option is Michael Flannery's, Uppper Denmark Street.

I am intending to depart Limerick at 20.15 by bus!
