Low-budget extract brew with LME?

If you have graduated (or would like to graduate) from the beer kit to malt extract, hops, steeping grains, etc. Then this is the forum for you.

Low-budget extract brew with LME?

Post by joe_h » Wed Nov 28, 2012 3:28 pm

Hi all,

I see HBW now have 1.5kg LME for €6.95. I was thinking it could be used to make a cheap extract brew.

Can anyone recommend ingredients for a 23L cheap pale ale recipe using this? Probably some simple steeping grains and hops mixes to keep cost minimal, saving some hops for dry hopping...

Thanks!

Hi Joey,
luckily there is one on site here. I.d simply replace the 2.5k of DME with 2 cans of LME. This may make your beer a bit stronger - I cant remember where to find a converter from LME to DME (and I've never used LME in extract brews)
