This news came in via the EBCU channel. The consultation period ends next week and I'll put something together and send it through before then.

Good to see cider makers getting a break. Dare I ask, anyone reckon we will see a price drop?

It's a bit early for that sort of talk. This proposal in no way affects the amount of excise duty payable on cider in Ireland.

I don't follow, what does the extension of the duty cut mean then?

It means that the government will be allowed put in a duty cut for cider. It may not want to, or it may put in one that's less than 50%. A lot can happen within the scope of the proposal and none of it will be soon.
