Can we get a bigger inline image size.. 9 years 1 month ago #1

..please?

I understand the need to keep oversized pictures off the forum, but I think the current size restriction is too small.

It wasn't always that small, and the restriction means a lot of detail is lost, negatively impacting on usability.

Posting links to images breaks up the continuity of the post, especially if there are lots of links.

TIA.

Well the neatest thing to do is create a <420px thumbnail linked to the full-sized image: no breaking up the message with link text and details on demand for the reader.

I measure this message window as 440px wide, so I'm guessing that's why pictures are limited to 420. I don't know what happens to the layout if a picture wider than that is posted. What limit would you set?

Edit: actually, I've a feeling the picture just gets cut off on the right after 420px. I think I've seen that on old ICB posts after the forum was ported to the new site.

Good point, although there really should be no limit on length, and with a lot of pics being portrait it'd be good if even length was increased.

Can the main window be any wider? (Even marginally) I'm viewing this on a 1680px wide screen and most of it is blank/background as a result.

Which is about optimal if you want to be able to use the site on a Smartphone. Yes, the central column could be made bigger but if would mean a lot of work repositioning the rest of the elements.

I'm viewing this on a 2400px wide screen. The trick is to only use half the screen (email is in the other half).

I wouldn't agree. On an 480x800 screen it's too small to read, so you have to zoom anyway.
