Re: crated 500ml and 330ml bottles lookng for a new home

Hey Dan - I'd be very interested in the 500ml bottles. Where you based? I'm in Galway.

Re: Kinnegar Brewing

They've been granted permission for a 10 hectolitre brewery, which will move production capacity from 200L/week to 5000L/week. Great news!

Low-budget extract brew with LME?

Hi all, I see HBW now have 1.5kg LME for €6.95 . I was thinking it could be used to make a cheap extract brew. Can anyone recommend ingredients for a 23L cheap pale ale recipe using this? Probably some simple steeping grains and hops mixes to keep cost minimal, saving some hops for dry hopping... Th...

Re: Kinnegar Brewing

Anyone got a contact/email for Rick? (PM) There's no contact info on the website, I don't know where in Rathmullan he is either. Looking at the events page I don't think the website is kept up to date, so it might be in a few other places now. Would love to check out his brewing setup but if there's...

Re: Kinnegar Brewing

I'm up home this weekend and got to try my first Kinnegar Brewing beer. I'm only about 20mins from Rathmullan, was down at the Ferry Gate for dinner, they had the red and blue cap bottles in stock. Got a red one, Devil's Backbone - Northern Amber Ale It was excellent, very impressed. Spotted a few o...

Re: Welcome to the West forum

Ah there's a new West forum! Enjoyed the last Galway Home Brew Club meeting - great to try what others were brewing and get some ideas! Have two new brews ready for this month, coffee stout and a golden pale ale. Got my first all-grain (BIAB) in the fermenter now, down at 1.006 after 5 days. Temptin...

Re: BIAB

Hit an OG of 1.037, so a bit on the low side. Recipe said to expect 1.050, assuming proper all grain method of course. Well hopefully it'll ferment well and I'll get at least 4% from it. Tasted a bit on the weak side too. Only a small quantity of hops with that kit, all went in at 60mins. Stuck to t...

Re: Doolin Beer Festival, 24-27th August

I got sent a link about this today. Surprised to see this in all the press releases... Hotelier John Burke spoke at the launch about the importance of the upcoming festival “this is the first time a festival like this will be held outside of Dublin and is a great opportunity for Doolin”. Surely "Bre...

Re: BIAB

Thanks for the tips. I see a lot of guides say to wrap the pot with something to insulate it during the mash. I've done a few of the extract kits from THBC which involve steeping a small amount of grain at 67degC. I've always kept the hob on one of the lowest settings to maintain the temperature at ...
