Re: Recommendation for craft beer pub in Cork city

@Tim - It's Lapp's Quay rather than Latch Quay. Elbow Lane is a two minute walk from The Clarion. Pubs nearby would be El Fenix and The Poor Relation - another two owned by Benny McCabe (owner of the aforementioned Rising Sons, Sin É and Mutton Lane) - I think he has 13 pubs to his name now. 12 in ...

Re: Berlin

I was in Berlin last summer. I went to a fair few of the places already mentioned above. I particularly like Hops & Barley and Hopfenreich. I can highly recommend Eschenbrau also - top quality beer, great beer garden (the brewer took over an apartment complex garden area) and pizzas (flammkuchen). h...

Re: Recommendation for craft beer pub in Cork city

@Tim - What part of the city are you staying in? Elbow Lane was nice the one time that I've been there. Everything, food and their own brew, was very tasty. It's small with very few tables and doesn't take reservations. The same owners operate Orso and Market Lane. Market Lane is next door to Elbow...

Re: Recommendation for craft beer pub in Cork city

I'm biased, speaking as a regular, but The Bierhaus on Pope's Quay ticks all the boxes. While it will be busy on a Friday/Saturday, it's never so loud that you can't have a chat in there. They added more taps to the bar so I think there's over 20 draught lines (16 of which are rotating guest taps) n...

Re: Breweries/Craft bars in Castlegregory/Dingle area

I was Dingle a few months ago. There are a few bars doing craft beer down there now. The most enjoyable two were O'Sullivan's (The Courthouse Bar) and Hannie Agnes's. O'Sullivan's have their own beer but I would guess that it's not made by them and is, in fact, something else re-branded. Hannie Agne...

Re: Birmingham/Coventry

I don't know if you've gone or not yet but... The Wellington on Bennett's Hill in Birmingham is a great pub with 15 rotating casks and one constant - the magnificent Oakham Citra. They don't serve food but you can bring your own and they'll provide the plates/cutlery. Real-time beer board - http://w...

Re: Beoir Full Member Benefits Update

Hello Folks,

I rarely log in. Got my card about a month ago.

The deal that the lads have got going in the Bierhaus, Cork - €1.20 off cask ales has paid for itself already!

Have you ever approached Bradley's on North Main Street about offering members a discount?

Re: Introduce yourself

Cheers lads.

I went to the Home Brew expo in the Well a few years ago. There were some really interesting beers there.

Unfortunately I have to fly to Munich from Dublin the next day so I think my plan to go this year is botched.

Re: Introduce yourself

Hey, how's it going guys?

I can't believe that I only stumbled across this place now. It's good to see an Irish site dedicated to craft beer.

I'm hoping to take up home brewing myself. Hopefully I'll get some pointers here.

I look forward to talking to you guys.

Take it easy.
