...it's called Carmen. I got a bottle of their lager but I believe they also do a stout and a red (the holy triumvirate!!!). Their website does not seem to be working ( www.cervezacarmen.com ) and the label is very scant on info but checking around it seems to come from Cerveses De Gardena in Taragona.

For the beer, it's a little cloudy out of the bottle. A major hit of liquorice on the front which I would guess is due to dry hopping with star anise or fennel. Malty on the backend. But a very nice change after 2 weeks of spanish cerveza.

I got mine at the Al Campo which would indicate they have a decent distribution (Al Campo is like the Spanish Tescos) and it was €1.55 a 33cl bottle which is a little expensive for the locals; it's usually less than 50c a bottle here- I've been buying trays of Mahou and Alhambra for less than €15 for a tray of 24 tins.

Mahou and Alhambra aren't too bad but do get boring pretty quickly (the Alhambre dark/reserva is decent too). Cruzcampo and San Miguel are pretty bad. Best to stick to the sangria/tinto verano.
