Gateway Beer? If someone's willing to try this might they be more willing to try a, say, Dungaravan Copper Coast if it was available in the same premises?

I think it's at least as likely to confirm the opinions of the I-Don't-Like-Ale brigade.

But won't these guys not like Ale no matter what one does? It's the guys/gals that may be swayed (which would be evidenced by their willingness to try something other than the usual) that I'm talking about. It's how I migrated from Macro lager/stout.

Just trying to see the positives in this <!-- s:-) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":-)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:-) -->

Give them something with a bit of hop welly and [i:2u0ct7rs]then[/i:2u0ct7rs] you have a possible gateway beer. Goose Island IPA is a prime example. I'm all for something different on the bar, but the way Caledonia Smooth is [i:2u0ct7rs]so[/i:2u0ct7rs] similar to macro Irish ale yet presenting itself as something different rankles with me.

That's a fair point, Espeically about Goose Island. My point is that if people are trying this it means they are agreeable to something different which would in turn mean that they are more open to some of the ICB's.
