a bartender, a (clean)glass, a stool, heating, lighting, possibly security, possibly entertainment and an amount of beer.

For comparison, an 8oz steak is always more than half the price of a 16oz and no one ever complains.[/quote:37ax5odi]

It should be factored into the price of a pint..if a half costs a few pence more put it on the price of a pint and make everyone pay the same...overheads are the same regardless of how many units are sold

I am a publican for 20 years and I can honestly say there is no reason to charge any more than half the price of a pint for a half pint

Certainly annoying - pubs in the area I live (Co. Leitrim) seem to charge around 75% of the price for a half.
